Overview
Plastopex manufactures plastic pontoons made of HDPE material, intended for building stable and long-lasting structures on the water. The pontoons are produced using spiral winding technology, according to the required load capacity, dimensions, type of construction and purpose of the project.
Plastic pontoons are used for rafts, catamarans, trimarans, mooring docks, floating jetties, marinas, floating platforms, cages for fish farms and other structures on the water. They can also be used to build terraces for restaurants, cafés, clubs and tourist facilities, as well as floating barriers for collecting and directing waste.
HDPE material is suitable for use in fresh and salt water, and is resistant to corrosion, moisture, impacts, wear and external conditions. Unlike metal and concrete elements, plastic pontoons do not require anti-corrosion protection, and due to their low weight they are simpler to transport, assemble and handle.
The pontoons can be connected to one another and combined with metal, aluminum or wooden construction. Plastic holders for fastening the construction can be provided on the pontoons, and the configuration itself is determined according to the total load, the number of users, the weight of the construction, the cargo, the equipment and the conditions of use on the water.
Plastopex pontoons are constructed with several independent internal chambers, which contribute to safety in the event of local damage. Each chamber can have a vent valve to equalize the pressure, while if needed the pontoons can additionally be filled with styrofoam cylinders to increase safety and reduce the risk of water ingress.
Pontoons of various diameters are available, from Ø500 mm to Ø1600 mm, with a load capacity of approximately 98 kg/m to 1000 kg/m, depending on the diameter. The exact number, dimensions and layout of the pontoons are determined according to the project, the desired stability, the total mass of the structure and the operating conditions.

When might plastic pontoons not be the ideal choice?
- If the location has strong waves, wind, fast water flow or large changes in water level, an additional technical check is needed.

- If large commercial marinas, complex anchoring or special safety requirements are needed, the solution should be considered through a project.
- If the pontoons are used for larger vessels, heavy loads or dynamic forces, the configuration, pontoon layout and structure must be checked.
- If a permit, approval or special documentation is required for a structure on the water, local regulations must be checked before realization.
- If a ready-made standard product without structural design is needed, the pontoons may be only part of the solution, not a complete system.

What to prepare before sending an inquiry?
- State the intended use of the pontoon: raft, platform, dock, pier, marina, catamaran, fishpond, barrier or other solution on the water.
- Prepare the approximate dimensions of the structure: length, width, area and desired pontoon layout.
- State the total expected load: weight of the structure, number of people, equipment, furniture, vessels or additional cargo.
- State the type of water and location: lake, river, canal, sea, fishpond, coastal zone or other water surface.
- Describe the conditions on the water: calm water, waves, wind, current, changes in water level, depth and character of the shore.
- State whether you need only pontoons or a complete solution with structure, walking surface, anchoring and additional equipment.
- Choose the approximate pontoon diameter if known: Ø500, Ø600, Ø800, Ø1000, Ø1200, Ø1300 or Ø1600 mm.
